Always wear protective eyewear when you use these. Little chips and shards can fly in any direction.
It's recommended that you use these while holding your glass over a container that will catch the pieces. Before you squeeze the handle, place a gloved hand over the glass to redirect all glass into the container and prevent glass shards from spreading to your work area.
