The item up for bids is a fabulous antique circa 1916 individual coffee or tea pot from The Carolina Hotel at Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Pinehurst has hosted a number of golf championships and is scheduled to host the 2024 US Open.
The pot was made by the Gorham Silver Company and is heavy restaurant quality silver plate and built to endure. It features an elegant classical form with great detailing. On the front is The Carolina Hotel coat of arms which incorporates the Great Seal of North Carolina with a pine cone and pine tree below. It is signed on the bottom G M Co. / Gorham anchor / E.P. / 03497 / 14 oz. There is also a battle ax date mark for 1916. It's a great piece of North Carolina hotel history, have some fun and bid!
Condition
:
The condition is good antique. The surface is shiny and will take a polish, the lid fits and the hinge is smooth with minimal wobble, and it sits flat. It has the typical dings, scuffs, and scratches commensurate with its age and commercial use. The silver plating is generally good with minor rub through at the edges. There is some tarnish. The interior looks pretty good with some dark spots in the hard to reach areas. It looks great and is ready for use or display. The pictures are the best indicator as to condition, please use the zoom feature and check them out.
